SURAN 2010

(Note: 2010 had two lunar-calendar Sura months--in January 2010 and again in December 2010. But because Sura in Dec 2010 did not contain a "malem Minggu Paing", there was no "Suran Gebang" event in Dec 2010.)

Every year on malem Minggu Paing in the month of Sura, Ki Purbo Asmoro hosts a wayang at his home in Gebang. This year's took place on January 16th--not malem Minggu Paing, but rather the final day of Sura. The dhalang was Ki Suyati from Eromoko, Wonogiri (chosen for his wonderul humor, his Wonogiri dialect, and his creative "sabetan humor") and the lakon was GATHUTKACA KRAMA. The musicians were all Mayangkara.
