Ki Purbo Asmoro publishes a book of his antique wayang collection!
On his 50th birthday, 17 December 2011, Ki Purbo Asmoro received a gift in the form of a beautiful book documenting his antique wayang collection. It includes over 350 photos of his wayang from Klaten, Kartasura, and Mangkubumen--which range anywhere from 80 to 150 years old.
Right now the book-gift is simply a collection of photos, with a very simple preface giving some limited background on carvers of the day (mostly from the time of PB X). This inspired us, and many around us, to imagine in the future a possible new project for Ki Purbo Asmoro and Lontar (who photographed the collection):
1. an English version which would include more information--snippets about each character and more information on the carvers' styles.
2. perhaps a digital version, offering it for a small downloading fee
